History of L&J
L&J Investment AB has been active in Africa for more than 30 years. Among its many recent successful projects is the ADONES project between Swedish telecom giant Ericsson and Angola Telecom which put into place an extensive submarine cable system covering the whole Angolan coast from Namibe to Cabinda (1.700km). This project was begun in 2001 and inaugurated in November 2009 and it is presently considered the strategically most important project of Angola Telecom and it will dramatically uplift the telecom capacities of the whole country including fixed lines, cellular and internet.
Other projects include the high-voltage transmission link project between the Swedish consortium between ABB and Eltel and the Angolan Ministry of Energy and Water and state-own energy company ENE (Empresa Nacional de Electricidade). The Gabela – Quileva Interconnector project of 262km, which was to transfer approx. 130 MW from the north region (substation Gabela) to the central region of Angola (substation Quileva) outside Lobito was begun in 2005, was formally presented and approved by the Council of Ministers on 13th of June 2007 and expected to be completed in 2012. L&J Investment AB has participated to the structuring of the project finance in cooperation with BNP Paribas/ Fortis.
